about

Auld Lang Syne / MacPherson’s Lament / Fr John Angus Rankin (J. Holland) / King George IV / Miss Shepherd (J.S. Skinner) / Ruidhle nan Coileach Dhubha / Lilliana* (Ed Pearlman)/ Lilly’s Reel* (Ed Pearlman) – We start with the original tune for Auld Lang Syne as selected by Robert Burns and move from there; Lilly joins me in playing the last two tunes, which I wrote for her. “Lilly’s” was inspired by hearing (over the phone!) Molly Rankin playing her dad’s tune (“Molly Rankin”) on the piano when she was 10; I wrote this tune for Lilly five years ago, when she too was 10 years old.
